Phased Supplement Protocol
Mobilization → Binding → Recovery → Advanced Modules. Each phase is time-gated relative to sauna exposure.
30-60 min before sauna · Empty stomach · Goal: mobilize lipophilic toxins from adipose tissue into circulation for elimination via sweat and bile.
GPR109A receptor activation → initial FFA suppression → rebound lipolysis releasing 3-4x free fatty acids → lipophilic toxin mobilization from adipose stores. Simultaneously triggers prostaglandin D₂/E₂ cascade → peripheral vasodilation (the 'flush'). The flush IS the mechanism — it signals cutaneous blood flow increase that enhances sweat-based toxin elimination. Titrate: start 50mg, increase 50mg every 3-5 days. Target: 100-500mg. Cycle 5 days on / 2 days off to prevent receptor downregulation.
Hydrophilic bile acid with potent choleretic effect — increases bile flow volume by 40-60%, directly enhancing hepatic excretion of mobilized lipophilic toxins. Reduces ER stress in hepatocytes. Protects bile duct epithelium from toxic bile acid damage during high-output detox. Critical synergy with niacin: as niacin mobilizes toxins into blood, TUDCA ensures the liver can process and excrete them via bile rather than recirculating.
Rate-limiting precursor for glutathione synthesis — provides the cysteine bottleneck. Glutathione is the primary Phase II conjugation molecule in hepatic detoxification. NAC on empty stomach bypasses first-pass competition with dietary amino acids, maximizing liver uptake. Supports both direct toxin conjugation and regeneration of other antioxidants (Vitamin C, E, ALA). Essential during mobilization phase to prevent oxidative damage from circulating toxins.
Universal antioxidant — both fat and water soluble. Crosses blood-brain barrier (one of few antioxidants that can). Directly regenerates glutathione, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and CoQ10. The R-enantiomer is the biologically active form; racemic ALA is 50% inactive S-form. Supports mitochondrial energy production (cofactor for pyruvate dehydrogenase and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase).
Light-to-moderate aerobic exercise (walking, cycling, rowing). Increases cardiac output and peripheral blood flow, enhancing delivery of mobilized toxins to skin and sweat glands. Activates lymphatic drainage (lymph system has no pump — requires muscle contraction). Initiates lipolysis independently, compounding niacin's FFA release. Do NOT do intense exercise — save energy for sauna heat stress.
- +Niacin + TUDCA: Niacin mobilizes toxins into blood; TUDCA ensures liver can excrete them via bile. Prevents hepatic overload.
- +NAC + R-ALA: NAC provides cysteine for glutathione; R-ALA regenerates spent glutathione. Multiplicative antioxidant defense.
- +Exercise + Niacin: Both independently trigger lipolysis. Combined, they produce maximal FFA (and toxin) release from adipose.
- +Empty stomach timing: All Phase 1 supps absorb better without food competition. Niacin flush is stronger fasted.
- −Do NOT take binders within 2 hours of Phase 1 supplements — binders will adsorb the supplements instead of toxins.
- −Niacin + aspirin: Aspirin blunts the prostaglandin flush. Avoid aspirin 2+ hours before niacin if flush is desired.
- −R-ALA + dental amalgams: Risk of mercury redistribution to CNS. Remove amalgams first or skip R-ALA.
- −High-dose niacin (>500mg) without titration: Can cause severe flushing, hypotension, GI distress. Always titrate slowly.

“Mobilize. Bind. Recover. Every phase is non-negotiable.”
Session Protocol
Supplements are the input. The session is the reaction. Heat dose, contrast timing, and end-state selection determine whether Phase 1 mobilization actually completes — or stalls.
Heat environments
Temperature alone does not equal thermal load. Humidity and heat-transfer mode dictate perceived intensity.
| Modality | Temp | Humidity | Transfer | Round length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dry sauna (Finnish) | 80–100°C / 176–212°F | 10–20% | Convection + radiation | 10–20 min |
| Steam / banya | 40–60°C / 104–140°F | ~100% | Condensation (highest) | 8–15 min |
| Infrared | 45–60°C / 113–140°F | Ambient | Direct IR radiation | 20–45 min |
Löyly (water on stones) is the dose dial. A ladle of water spikes humidity and perceived heat instantly — use it to titrate, not to prove toughness.
Contrast cycle
The vasodilation → vasoconstriction → rest loop is what actually moves lymph. Without it, mobilized toxins pool.
In-session warning signs
Separate from medical contraindications. These are exit-now signals during a session.
| Signal | What it means | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Goosebumps in the heat | Thermoregulation failing — early heat exhaustion. | Exit immediately. Cool slowly. No plunge. |
| Nausea or confusion | Core temp spike + electrolyte swing. | Exit. Electrolytes. End session. |
| Dizziness on exit | Orthostatic drop from vasodilation. | Sit down before standing. Hydrate. |
| Cold-gasp panic | Reflex hyperventilation in plunge. | Exit cold. Slow nasal breathing. Shorter plunge next round. |
| Headache during session | Dehydration or sodium deficit. | Exit. Full electrolyte packet. Do not push through. |
End-state selector
The last round sets the autonomic tone for the next 2–4 hours. Choose deliberately.

Advanced Insights
Deep-dive into the science behind the protocol. Understanding the mechanisms helps you troubleshoot and personalize.
Cycling Protocols
Supplement cycling prevents receptor downregulation, tolerance, and accumulation. Follow these on/off patterns.
| Supplement | On Period | Off Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Niacin (flush) | 5 days | 2 days | GPR109A receptor desensitization. Off days restore flush response. |
| Ashwagandha KSM-66 | 8-12 weeks | 2-4 weeks | Thyroid stimulation accumulates. Off period prevents overstimulation. |
| Tongkat Ali | 5 days | 2 days | Prevents hormonal desensitization. Some protocols use 8wk on/2wk off. |
| Systemic Enzymes | 5 days | 2 days | Prevents excessive fibrinolysis. Rest days allow tissue remodeling. |
| Binders (heavy dose) | 1 day/week | 6 days | Over-binding risk. Heavy binder day only 1x/week. |
| Binders (moderate) | 3-4 days | 3-4 days | Alternate binder days with mineral replenishment days. |
| Zeolite | 1 day/week | 6 days | Strict limit. Excessive use depletes essential cations. |
| Berberine | 8 weeks | 2-4 weeks | GI microbiome impact. Off period allows flora recovery. |
| R-ALA | 5 days | 2 days | Mercury mobilization concern if any amalgam exposure history. |
Safety Flags
Critical contraindications and risk scenarios. Review before starting any module.
| Flag | Risk | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Dental Amalgams | R-ALA can mobilize mercury to CNS | Remove amalgams before using R-ALA. Or skip R-ALA entirely. |
| Blood Thinners | Nattokinase + serrapeptase compound anticoagulation | Medical supervision required. May need to skip fascia module. |
| Pregnancy / Nursing | Mobilized toxins can cross placenta / enter milk | STOP all mobilization protocols immediately. Binders only. |
| Hypotension | Niacin flush + sauna heat = severe vasodilation | Start niacin at 25mg. Monitor blood pressure. Skip if <90/60. |
| Kidney Disease | Impaired electrolyte clearance + binder excretion | Requires nephrologist supervision. Modify electrolyte doses. |
| Hyperthyroidism | Ashwagandha stimulates thyroid further | Skip ashwagandha entirely. Monitor TSH/T3/T4. |
| Seizure History | Hyponatremia risk compounds seizure threshold | Strict electrolyte compliance. Shorter sessions. Medical supervision. |
| Active Cancer Treatment | Mobilized toxins may interfere with chemo/radiation | Consult oncologist before any detox protocol. |
| Dehydration | Sauna without adequate hydration → hypovolemic shock | 16-24oz water per 20 min. Never sauna hungover or fasted without electrolytes. |
| Mobilization w/o Binding | Toxin redistribution to brain, joints, kidneys | ALWAYS bind post-sauna. Never do Phase 1 without Phase 2. |
